Exploring Laya in Bytedesk: Decide First, Then Respond

When a customer says, "You charged me twice; fix this or I will cancel," the first useful action may not be a fluent reply. It may be recognizing a complaint, finding the billing team, and deciding whether a human should step in.

Bytedesk plans to evaluate the open-source decision model Laya, served through Ollama, for customer-service intent recognition and routing. This is a proposal, not an implemented or released integration. The benefits below are goals to validate, not proven product capabilities.

Bytedesk will not be locked to Laya. The planned decision capability will allow model switching, including API integrations with providers such as Alibaba Cloud and Zhipu. Laya is the first evaluation option, not the only choice.

Following the 0.1.0 Preview audio conferencing release, Bytedesk Meet has completed a major unified-meeting upgrade: every meeting is now an "audio-first" visual meeting — you join with audio only by default, without touching your camera; when needed, any participant can turn on their camera or share their screen at any time; and the host can record the meeting with one click. Creating a meeting no longer involves choosing between audio and video — all capabilities are provided on demand through the toolbar at the bottom of the meeting view.

This post introduces what the upgrade includes, the interface layout, the technical architecture, and how to get started.

Bytedesk Meet 0.1.0 Preview is out. As the open-source conferencing system in the Bytedesk ecosystem, Bytedesk Meet aims to give teams a self-hosted audio and video conferencing solution they fully control: no third-party SaaS dependency, data stays on your own servers, and it integrates natively with Bytedesk's account and permission systems.

The 0.1.0 Preview starts with audio conferencing, focusing on getting the core flow right: create a meeting, share a link, join, and keep participant records. Video conferencing and screen sharing are on the roadmap. This post introduces what this version includes, the technical architecture, and how to get started.
